COORDINATES: Latitude 45°40'974" N Longitude 13°22'910" E ITALIAN NAVY LEGA - Grado section - via Aquileia, 54 (ex riva Brioni, 10) 34073 Grado (GO) The Grado section of the Naval League is spread across two locations; the first is located at the port of Mandracchio, in the heart of the city, the second at Riva Brioni. In this last location are the offices, the meeting room, the restaurant, the sailing school, the nautical equipment. Port Access Challenges: Strong winds from southern sectors, common in spring and autumn, make access to the port more difficult. Landmarks: Grado is identifiable from the open sea by two tall bell towers, one with a grill. Canal Entrance: - Marked by an illuminated buoy. - The canal route is approximately 30°, delimited by mooring posts. - Minimum depths at the first mooring post range from 2.5 to 3 meters. - Tighten left in the canal toward the port. Coastal CurrenT: - Flows westward at 0.5–1 knots. - Causes silting on the eastern passage. Canal Split: - At the north entrance, splits into two: - Marked by an illuminated red beacon. - San Pietro d’Orio Canal: Extends NW, allowing boats with limited draft to reach Porto Buso. - Grado Canal: Leads NE and East. - Docking Points:- Two accessible docking points for yachts north of the city. - NNW-SSE canal in the city allows mooring along its banks. - West Dock: Reserved for fishing. - East Dock: Reserved for Grado LNI and transit boats; offers excellent shelter. - Nearby Shops: Includes several nautical stores. - Revolving Bridge: Connects Grado to the mainland; offers nearby moorings, but high tides can flood the low banks. - Historical Site:- Aquileia (10 km from Grado): Excavations revealed remains of an ancient Roman city known for its thriving market and Augustus’ headquarters during campaigns. Unsafe Coast Shallow waters extend up to 1.5 miles out to sea between Grado and Bay of Panzano. Mula di Muggia Bank: Delimited by an illuminated white beacon. Sdobba Point Southern side of Bay of Panzano. Marked by an illuminated turret with a radar reflector (useful sector: 170°–35°). Port of Monfalcone: Located at the end of the Bay of Panzano.
