December 7 2018 Approach Instructions The Army Corp of Engineers dredge is sitting at the mouth of the creek and is currently dredging from December 7th 2018 to January 3rd 2019. The mouth of the creek will be plenty deep and wide enough for boats up to 100ft. We will update entry instructions once the dredge is done, but it should be straight forward after January 3rd 2019.

The Harbor is located at the southern end of the Island off Main Street. The Town leases 25′, 30′, 40′, and 50′ slips. There is a waiting list for slips. However, when leaseholders are not using their slip, there may be opportunities for short-term sublease of slips through the Town. You may contact the Town and leave a message for the Harbormaster concerning subleasing. The Town Dock is located on Main Street across from the firehouse behind the American legion building. The Eastside Boat Ramp is located on Eastside Road, and Fir Landing is located on Fir Landing Road off of Deep Hole Road. A fee of $20.00 is charged for an annual boat launch permit which is valid from April 15 of each year to April 14 of the following year. A temporary pass valid for seven consecutive days from purchase is available for $5.00. The decal or pass may be purchased from the Town Office or the Curtis Merritt Harbor of Refuge. The Police Department also sells decals when the Town Office is closed; evenings, weekends and holidays. Note: Boat ramp/launch permits are for any use of the boat launch such as; boats, kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, etc.

Dandy Haven participates in the Chesapeake Bay Foundation's oyster farming program, annual Watershed Shoreline Cleanup, and underwater grass growing and transplantation projects. Dandy Haven's storage facilities include 68 wet slips with both fixed and floating docks, and 34 sheltered dry storage slots. Fixed and floating docks will accommodate boats up to 45 ft in length. Fishing Bay Marina is situated in Deltaville, Virginia, at the mouth of the Piankatank River on the beautiful deep waters of Fishing Bay. The marina offers both slip holders and transients an amenity-filled and comfortable facility with easy access to the Chesapeake Bay and the Piankatank River. In January of 2015, the Farinholt brothers, Jon, Lee, and Rick purchased Fishing Bay Marina. They focus on providing friendly, helpful service, and top-notch facilities. Follow the channel into the Piankatank River and make sure you leave R’8′ and R’8A’ to starboard. Then head west leaving Stove Point and R “10” and R “10A” to starboard and head north into Fishing Bay. There is 16 feet of water in the entrance channel and 15 feet at the docks at MLW. The tidal range is 3 feet. The marina, located on the western side of the protected basin, has stationary open and covered slips that can accommodate vessels to 200′. Look for the long fuel dock at the opening of the marina.

Boats with drafts over 16" should stay in the center of Sandy Bay and marina entrance. Anchors or tie to bridges only. Tides are strong, making it difficult for boaters to maintain steerage. The Old Dominion Boat Club maintains a marina of 53 boat slips. Additionally, we have a work float and 3 “Tee” docks. There are 18 large slips accommodating boats 25 feet in length or more. There are 35 small slips accommodating 16 to 24 feet in length. These slips may be available for an ODBC member or non-member transient use in the event the assigned slip holder is out of the marina. Transient reservations for an ODBC member may be made up to 30 days in advance. Reciprocal transient reservations may be made no more than fifteen (15) days in advance of an expected stay. Slips or T-ends not previously reserved in this way may be assigned to members or transients by the M&B committee on a first come, first served basis. All fees shall be paid in advance or at the time of docking. Transients occupying the north and south T-Docks shall berth their boat so that it does not block the interior fairway between the north and the south docks with no part of the transient’s boat extending beyond the last piling on the north or south T-Dock closest to the Fairway. M & B Rules require boats to be moored with the appropriate size, load, and length for their size boat, half-inch lines being the minimum for use by all boats. Visiting boat owners are responsible for using their lines. As a courtesy to slip holders, any lines found in a slip are not to be used or tampered with so that when the assigned slip holder re-occupies the slip, they do not have to adjust the lines. Visiting boaters are required to provide their electrical power cords.

Boat rentals are available 15 May – 15 October. If you are renting a boat, please call ahead for weather conditions. Children must be six years old to be passengers on any rental boat.

SYC’s marina is quite full with permanent slip rentals by Club members. However, we welcome boaters to our transient dockage that is located at the ends of our piers (indicated by yellow arrows in above photo). Permanent slips also are available to use on occasion. Transient slip forms can be downloaded below and also are kept in a tube mounted on a pole on the “T” of the east dock. Boaters seeking transient dockage should contact our Dock Master or the Commodore SYC is a certified “Clean Marina” and we offer our pump out facility to all boaters. A non-SYC member (who is also not a member of a club with reciprocity) must pay a $5.00 fee to use the facility. In any event, boaters need to contact the Dock Master or his designate. From 7 AM to 5 PM, seven days a week, we provide boat rentals. We offer six-foot and twenty-four-foot fiberglass skiffs that can accommodate up to four adults (an adult is defined as someone weighing 90 pounds or more). In addition, we offer a bait and tackle shop with munchies, ice, and repair parts. Gas is available by land and at the port. We have a boat ramp open 24 hours a day for $10. The marina at The Governor's Land at Two Rivers offers great tidal river fishing for those who enjoy fishing in Virginia. The channel to the southeast is not accurately depicted on most GPS charts; instead, heed the markings. The land's approach range lights are precise.
