Located in Key Largo, Florida, the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park is the first undersea park in the United States, covering approximately 70 nautical square miles. The park offers a diverse range of experiences, from mangrove swamps and tropical hammocks to stunning coral reefs teeming with marine life. The marina at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park can accommodate vessels up to 50 feet in length, with a total of 9 fixed slips available for use. All 9 slips are designated for transient use, making it convenient for visitors exploring the park by boat. Visitors to the park can enjoy a variety of activities, including glass-bottom boat tours for a glimpse of the vibrant reef ecosystem, as well as scuba diving and snorkeling for a closer look at the marine life. Canoeing and kayaking are popular ways to explore the park's waters, while fishing is allowed in designated areas. On land, visitors can take short nature trails, have picnics, or relax on the beach. The Visitor Center features a 30,000-gallon saltwater aquarium and shows nature videos in its theater. Camping facilities are available for both full-facility and youth/group campsites. The park also provides beach wheelchairs free of charge for those in need. For added convenience, free 24-hour WI-FI is available at the Concession Building and Dive Shop Building. The park's location in Key Largo, with coordinates N 25° 07.448' / W 080° 24.433', makes it easily accessible for visitors traveling along the Overseas Highway.
