Managed by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Caen Normandie, the port is structured around four main terminals along a 15-kilometer canal connecting Caen to the sea. It accommodates vessels up to 2,000 meters long, with a maximum cargo capacity of 30,000 tons and a 9-meter draft. The port's solid, liquid, and bulk handling capacity reaches up to 500,000 tons per year. Key Features and Services Ouistreham-Portsmouth Line: This line is the leading western Channel crossing, with Brittany Ferries offering three daily sailings. Cruise Tourism: The port hosts between 10 and 15 luxury cruises annually, with passengers visiting nearby sites like the Normandy D-Day beaches, Mont Saint-Michel, and the Caen Memorial. Marinas: The port includes two marinas, one in Caen's city center and another in Ouistreham, which also serves as a business hub for maritime startups under Norlanda. Fishing Fleet: The area supports around fifteen small-scale fishing units. Port Renovation: Ports of Normandy recently upgraded the outer harbor to enhance services for sailors and fishermen. Harbormaster Services The port's harbormaster operates around the clock with a team of seven harbor officers under the oversight of a Commander and Deputy Commander. They fulfill several duties on behalf of the state and Ports of Normandy, including: Operational Control: Assigning berths and managing dock space. Public Domain Preservation: Enforcing regulations to protect the port's public areas. Water Surveillance: Coordinating vessel traffic, including ship and boat movements. Hazardous Goods Management: Ensuring safe handling and compliance with regulations for dangerous goods. Additionally, the harbormaster's office facilitates the collection and distribution of nautical information and maintains user relations.
