About Port of Anacortes
In the waters of Washington, it's crucial for endangered whales and working vessels to coexist safely. To achieve this, shipmasters and pilots can adjust their course or slow down when they're aware of the presence of whales. To make this easier, Quiet Sound and the Port of Anacortes encourage professionals in the marine industry to subscribe to the WhaleReport Alert System. This system sends text notifications when a verified whale sighting takes place within 10 nm. If you're a pilot or member of a ship's bridge crew and belong to a professional marine organization, you can request access to the WhaleReport Alert System by contacting the WRAS Project Manager at WRAS@ocean.org. The Port of Anacortes Marine Terminal, located between Seattle, Washington and Vancouver, British Columbia, is a deep water port that offers break bulk cargo, high and heavy projects, and moorage services. With three centrally located piers and direct access to a well-established heavy haul route to the state highway system, the Marine Terminal is fully equipped to offer effective solutions that cater to your specific needs.
