Originally the pier was built in the early 1900’s and served as the ferry from Gig Harbor to Tacoma. Peninsula Yacht Basin was the first recreational boat marina in Gig Harbor opening 1947. Over the years the facility has gone thru many changes with the average boat in 1972 being under 30 feet and now our average is over 40 feet.
