About Port of Morehead City
The Port of Morehead City is a deep-water facility located just four miles from the Atlantic Ocean on the United States East Coast. It is a breakbulk and bulk facility and is one of the deepest ports on the East Coast. It is conveniently situated within 700 miles of over 70% of the U.S. industrial base. Access to Interstates 95 and 40 is easy via U.S. Highways 70 and 17, and the port also has access to rail service provided by Norfolk Southern. Additionally, there is a 150-acre site on Radio Island, located across the Newport River from the port, which is ideal for port industrial development and is equipped with municipal water and sewer services. - The channel is 45 ft. deep at Mean Lower Low Water (M.L.L.W.). - Within 700 miles of more than 70 percent of the industrial base of the United States. - Rail service is provided by Norfolk Southern Railway. - There is more than one million sq. ft. of prime covered and sprinklered storage available.
