With this change there will no longer be officers stationed at the Drummond Island Yacht Haven. You will have to check in using the Roam App either on the iPad provided at this port or on your smart phone or tablets. If you are traveling by plane, you will have to call the Sault port at 906-632-8822 to report your arrival. You need a passport, NEXUS card OR driver's license AND proof of citizenship (such as a birth certificate). You must check-in with Canadian customs upon arrival on to Canadian soil and with US Customs upon return to the United States. You risk a large fine if proper procedure is not followed. Note that Canadian Customs does not use the CBP Roam App you will have to call 1(888) CAN-PASS to check-in when you arrive in Canadian Waters. If your boat has anchored or tied up, you are considered to have entered the United States (the same is true in Canadian waters). No one shall board or leave the boat without first completing customs processing unless permission to do so is granted by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer in charge. The only exception to this requirement is to report arrival. If it is necessary for someone to leave the boat to report arrival to CBP, he or she must return to the boat after reporting and remain on board unless instructed otherwise. No one who arrived on that boat may leave until the CBP officer grants permission to go ashore. A report of arrival into the United States should be made to the CBP office nearest to your point of entry. If you are outside the U.S., you must call (202) 325-8000. The Sault Ste. Marie port of entry office if open 24 hours a day, seen days a week and can be reached at (906) 632-7221.
