Valdez Harbors is a vital economic resource for our community, providing a significant boost to tourism and maritime industries. It is a member of the Alaska Association of Harbormasters and Port Administrators (AAHPA) and the Pacific Coast Congress of Harbormasters & Port Managers (PCC). The North Basin (see map) has 511 slips, and the South Basin (see map) has 127 slips, which the City of Valdez manages. The Harbor has a staff of seven full-time employees and hires several part-time employees during the summer. It is open seven days a week throughout the year. We accept MasterCard and Visa as payment for services. Valdez Harbors has a variety of slips available, including 100', 65', 60', 50', 48', 40', 36', 32', 30', 24', and 20'. There are also approximately 1,800' of transient dock space in the North Basin and approximately 1,400' in the South Basin. For transients, the harbors use the hot berthing system, which means that tenant slips are used when they are not in use. In the North Basin, there are two restroom facilities. One is located at the top of the "B" ramp, and the other, which also has showers, is located under the Harbormaster's office. In the South Basin, there are restrooms and showers on the east side of the warehouse, and laundry facilities on the north side. Additional restrooms are available at the east end of the parking lot. Showers and laundry machines in both basins operate on tokens, which can be obtained from the token machines available 24/7. The token machines are located outside the North Basin restroom facilities at the Harbormaster's office and inside the South Basin laundry facilities. Both basins also have two oil disposal sheds. The North Basin shed is located across the street from the Harbormaster's office, while the South Basin shed is in the building at the southeast corner of the parking lot. A mobile pump-out cart and pump-out skiff are available free of charge, but you must schedule the service by contacting the Harbormaster's office. There are also two stationary pump-outs in each basin. In the North Basin, they are located at the end of "Tour" Dock and "B" Dock. In the South Basin, they are located at the end of "V" Dock and "R" Dock.
