About Club Náutico Deportivo de Riveira
Club Náutico Deportivo de Riveira If we come out of the ria, the best thing to do is use Rúa Island -which is a 500 m long set of stones with Little vegetation and a small lighthouse- as a reference. It is practically in the middle of the ria, about a mile to 281º from Xidoiro Pedregoso (on the other side of the ria's main canal). Once Rúa has been reached, you must head with the Sinal do Castro to port, transiting at 10º until Santa Uxía is at 350º. Approximately in the middle of the pier there is a 12-floor building with a square façade that can serve as a reference to the navigator. The Clive Náutico Deportivo de Riveira was founded in September of one thousand nine hundred and seventy-two, thirty-eight years ago, by a small group of friends united mainly by the passion for the sea and a great fondness for the sport of sailing. Today it is made up of five hundred and four members who, together with their families and aspirants, enjoy water sports and leisure and cultural activities in general. The Sailing School organizes uninterrupted sailing and cruising courses. The teaching staff it has is made up of Monitors qualified by the Galician Federation and the students are provided with all the necessary material for the classes, both practical and theoretical. The courses are taught throughout the year (every day in the high season and on weekends the rest of the year) in a proportion of five students per monitor and are held in the vicinity of the Club, in front of the beach of Coroso. We would like to emphasize that participation in sailing courses and nautical competitions is not limited exclusively to Club members. In our desire to promote the sport of sailing as much as possible, the participation of "non-members" in the organized courses is allowed. The Club participates with its regatta teams in the different sporting events held throughout Galicia. In addition, it organizes regattas of different categories of the optimist classes, dornas and cruise and hosts stages of the Nautical Tour of Galicia and the Rías Baixas Regatta. We must not forget that this Club is an important focus of attraction of nautical tourism and an important push for the deseasonalization of tourism, a matter that we had pending. The Ría de Arousa, outside the summer season, offers climatic and windy conditions that make it much more suitable for the practice of water sports than other coasts such as the Mediterranean or the Cantabrian. It is thanks to the offer of mooring in marinas like ours so that the difficult goal of boats from all over the world visiting Galicia also in low season will soon be achieved.
