About PORT OF CARIÑO
Cariño is a small natural fishing port sheltered within the estuary, three kilometers north of the town is Cabo Ortegal, an indescribable corner, a magical point and a reference point for all the residents. The long beach of La Concha with its dunes of extraordinary beauty and its fishing and lumber unloading port, among others, create the first coastline. The most relevant socioeconomic fact was the establishment in the town, at the end of the 18th century, of Catalan industrialists dedicated to canning. This event marks the beginning of the canning industrialization process that will have its peak moments in the 19th and 20th centuries. Also in the 18th century, in response to pirate incursions, watchtowers were built, such as those located in Limo and Herbeira,
