The large walk on moorings are for a vessel of maximum length 15m and maximum beam of 4.1m. There are only a few berths that can accommodate vessels over these specs. There are swing moorings available for maximum 17T vessels. There is an anchorage area. Please note that these are South African Naval waters and therefore requirements laid out by the SA Navy must be adhered to. All vessels using the marina and swing mooring areas must have insurance cover. APPROACH: On entering False Bay, make for an approach waypoint of 34°10.080’S – 18°27.720’E and then to a final approach waypoint of 34°11.250’S – 18°26.000’E. This will position you just off the Bullnose outside the marina. From there you can proceed to anchor, swing or marina moorings On arrival in Simon’s Bay, call the SA Navy on call sign ‘Bullnose’ on VHF ch 17 to inform them of your intentions. You can also try the yacht club ‘Dolphyn’ on ch 71. On arrival, please report to the club and marina offices to complete the arrival booking in forms. Please bring vessel registration papers, insurance documents and passports to the office. ANCHORING: An area has been set aside with permission from the SA Navy for visiting yachts to anchor in Simon’s Bay.
