In addition to the advantages of tourism and economics that this infrastructure has been providing, the jobs that were created, directly and indirectly, should not be forgotten, which constituted a significant added value for the dynamization of the economy and for the creation employment in the county. The construction works for the Port of Recreio de Sesimbra, started on December 4, 1997, and the authorization of the work by the Port Administration of Setúbal and Sesimbra (APSS) was decisive. The first phase, the work budgeted at about 160 thousand escudos, had the support of the City Council of Sesimbra and the contributions of the members of the Clube Naval. The construction work was carried out by Ahslers Lindley Lda., A company specialized in the construction of recreational ports and marinas, according to the project.
