Marina facilities and amenities
The deep water and large berths provide vessels the convenience of a ‘berth in the city’ and the necessary facilities include:

185 berths ranging in size from 10 to 20 metres,
water and power facilities to all berths,
fuel facilities,
an ‘on shore’ sewage pump,
car parks, toilets, showers and washing machines,
well-lit piers with controlled access and nighttime security and
a Marina Manager and office.

Chaffers Marina

Located north of the Capital, and just 18 nautical miles from Marlborough Sounds, Mana Marina is a safe haven from the wild Wellington weather. With modern facilities, beautiful surroundings and friendly staff, come and experience the authentic community vibe of Mana Marina. 

Alongside the marina complex are the clubrooms and facilities belonging to Mana Cruising Club. The Club operates a 35 tonne travel lift and hardstand area complete with cradles. Service providers are available by arrangement. 


Mana Marina

Evans Bay Marina sits at the south end of Evans Bay in Wellington’s main harbour. With ample car parking and a short taxi ride to the airport.

Evans Bay Marina is reasonably close to Wellington's central, southern and eastern suburbs. There is plenty of car parking and the airport is a short drive away.
The nearby Evans Bay Yacht Club operates a travel lift and hardstand. It also provides trailer-boat parking and undercover centre-board storage.
Berths
The marina has four non-floating piers with walk-on access to the 141 berths. It can take boats 6 - 20m in length. A restricted number of persons are allowed to live aboard their boats - a 'live-aboard' fee applies.

Evans Bay Marina

The Clyde Quay Boat Harbour on Oriental Parade is close to central Wellington.
The Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club and Sailing Academy are based at Clyde Quay Boat Harbour. Pay-and-display street parking is available.
Clyde Quay Boat Harbour is managed from the marina office at Evans Bay. 
Moorings
There are 72 fore and aft mooring locations for boats 7–17m long, restricted to a 2.2m maximum draft. The mooring licensee owns and is responsible for providing and maintaining the mooring blocks and chains.
There is no power connection to the moorings.
Visitor berths are not available. Contact the nearby Chaffers or Evans Bay marinas.

Clyde Quay Boat Harbour

Wellington

Located at the mouth of the Whanganui River, the port enables goods to be transported by sea and provides berthing facilities for coastal freight vessels and commercial boats.
No 1 Wharf is the primary commercial wharf capable of taking heavy vehicles and it was rebuilt in 2016. No 2 Wharf is used for small boat berths. No 3 Wharf is currently not suitable for commercial activities. Both Wharf 2 and 3 require significant remedial work. Three warehouse buildings at the port are available, with a storage capacity of up to 4386 square metres.
The Wharf Street boat ramp and trailer park is located next to the port, where on a good day more than 150 recreational boats are able to launch in pursuit of one of the best selections of table fish found in New Zealand.
The City Wharf, sited further up the Whanganui River near the City Bridge on the edge of the Central Business District, is available for mooring pleasure craft.
Whanganui Port is owned and managed by Whanganui District Council, with income from the port and the harbour endowment portfolio used for its maintenance and development.

Lake Taupō Marina is situated in the Waikato River upstream of the control gates bridge commonly known as Lake Taupō Harbour. It is controlled by the Internal Affairs Department and administered by the Lake Taupō Harbourmaster. A waiting list of several years exists for permanent berthing but short term temporary berths are available given prior notice (although peak periods over Christmas and Easer place a heavy demand on availability). The Department also administers berths at Motuoapa marina with 159 berths from 8-14m.

The beautiful Whitianga Marina is literally right in town with easy access to local attractions, activities banks, cafes, restaurants and hotels. An information center is nearby with friendly staff ready to help you discover our town and get you on your way to exploring New Zealand.

Situated inside the Whangamata harbour, in a very sheltered and secure location, the marina provides unparalleled access to wonderful offshore game fishing and recreational fishing and cruising grounds triangulated by Mayor Island, The Alderman Islands and Slipper Island to the North. Protected by a solid rock breakwater on three sides, the 209 berths range from 10.5m to 20m in length.

Our berths are designed with full length fingers; two intermediate piles; generous fairways; power and water supply via individual power modules. There is a 24 hour fuel jetty supplying Gull diesel sewage pump-out facilities; evening security patrols; and plenty of free car parking for berth owners and visitors.

A friendly, professional management team operates out of the Marina Office, providing management, information, maintenance and security services to the berths and marina facilities. All enquiries are welcome by visiting the team at the Marina Office.

Whangamata Marina

Tairua Marina is focused solely on lifestyle and taking the very best care of you and your boat.

Tairua Harbour is tidal, access out to open water is dependent on the bar depth. The access channel matches the bar and has a depth of 1.5 metres at low tide.

The beautiful village of Kinloch is located 20 kms northwest of Taupo on the shores of Whangamata Bay, Lake Taupo.

There, as its centrepiece, is our modern 142 berth marina.  The marina is owned by Kinloch Marina Limited, being made up of share and unit titleholders.  A Manager runs the Marina on behalf of a Board of Directors.

Although a private marina, it is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC who pay a fee to use the facility.

All boaties are welcome, for our marina truly is ‘the gateway to the Western Bays’ – the home of some of the best trout fishing in the world, and breathtaking scenery.

Marina Rules
The authority to enforce these rules is vested in the Marina Manager

Ramp passes are to be purchased before launching.
Ramp passes are per not transferrable.
Annual ramp passes are to be fixed to the port side screen.
Power loading vessels onto trailers (propelling) is not permitted as this causes erosion at the end of the concrete ramps.

Motuoapa Marina

There is a small marina with limited facilities at Lake Taupō, which is managed by the Lake Taupō Harbourmaster and controlled by the Internal Affairs Department. To be added to the waiting list for a berth at Lake Taupō, you will need to fill out an application form and submit it to the Harbourmaster's Office.

Berth fees at Taupō Boat Harbour and Nukuhau Marina have been increased over two years, while those at Tokaanu and Motuoapa berths have been increased over three years. This is due to the work that has already been completed in the northern areas, as well as the planned improvements for Tokaanu. Recent projects include jetty repairs.

If you want to communicate with other crafts via VHF transmissions, use the standard calling frequency of repeater channel 61. Once you have made contact with another craft, you can use line-of-sight channels 6 or 8 for chatting. For long distance communication, switch to repeater channel 63. If you do not receive a response, switch back to channel 61.

In case of an emergency, call 111 for assistance from the Police.

Nukuhau Marina

At the southern end of Opoutere Beach lies the winding entrance to the Wharekawa Harbour, which is protected by a spectacular sandspit. The spit is a breeding ground for several endangered species of native seabirds including the New Zealand Dotterel.

There isn't a marina in this harbour.

This was a lovely place to visit - We stayed at a nearby campground and spent many quality hours playing at the beach and the surrounding forests with our young children.

Wharekawa Harbour

The Thames Sailing Club Marina is located at Jellicoe Crescent, Thames, adjacent to the Shortland Wharf.  Recently upgraded, this small tidal Marina provides a good, safe haven for boats.

Our club facilities include large, purpose-built clubrooms with an observation deck, lounge, race tower, changing rooms, kitchen and easy access for launching of centreboard boats and small craft off the beach or boat ramp.

Port Tarakohe Marina is a popular spot in Golden Bay. A safe all-weather, all-tide harbour.
Just 2km from Pohara Top Ten Holiday Park, restaurants and accommodation. So many arrive at the port not knowing this is just down the road.

All vessels must have suitable lifejackets, easily accessible, for each person on board. They must be worn at all times on vessels 6 metres and under and at times of increased risk on all other vessels.
Communication
Make sure somebody knows where you are going and when you are expected back. Contact Bluff Fishermen’s radio on VHF Ch 63.
Take at least two forms of communication with you – VHF radio, flares, cell phone in a waterproof bag, EPIRB. 
Be prepared
Make sure you have the necessary equipment – anchor, bailer, oars, spare fuel, torch, first aid kit and warm clothes.
Take care
Use caution and ensure you have plenty of room on the water when towing. Watch out for anyone in the water.
Avoid alcohol when boating
VHF radio distress calls are transmitted on VHF channel 16. This channel is monitored 24 hours per day and dedicated to distress, safety and calling.

The Marina is located inside the Tauranga harbour and within 5 minutes of both Mount Maunganui and Tauranga city shopping centres. The Bay of Plenty is one of the fastest growing areas in New Zealand. Tauranga is also centrally located within the Bay of Plenty, which is known as one of New Zealand's finest aquatic recreation centres.

Marina berths range from 10.5 to 37.0 metres. Limited multihull berths are also available. Rental berths are available both short and long term - in some instances overseas vessels will be entitled to an exemption with a TIE.

Tauranga Marina is located inside the sheltered waters of Tauranga Harbour. It offers 560 berths for boats ranging from 8 to 24 meters in length, including multihull berthing, as well as a visitor's berth of 32 meters.

The marina's haul-out facility provides a 50-tonne Roodberg hydraulic trailer, a 35-tonne travel lift, 50 secure hardstand spaces, 4 large maintenance sheds, and skilled tradespeople all in one place, making it a convenient one-stop-shop for boat owners.

In addition, the marina offers other facilities such as a café, chandlery, 24-hour fuel, yacht club, Sports fishing club with bar & restaurant, and Coastguard.

Marsden Cove Marina resides in the centre of the Marsden Cove canal housing development, found just inside the entrance of the picturesque Whangarei Harbour.

The Marina’s extensive facilities include a world-class 236 berth Marina, complete with customs services, fuel dock, a range of waterfront retail facilities and Northland’s most popular public boat ramp. The unique marine based development is ideal for water and boating activities as it has complete tidal access to and from the marina.

Marsden Cove Marina

Tinopai is a charming settlement located on the Komiti Bay, which is part of the Hukatere Peninsula in Northland, New Zealand. The Otamatea River flows through Tinopai and into the harbour from the northeast. Matakohe, a nearby town, is just 23 km (14 mi) to the north. 

Tinopai is a peaceful town with a population of approximately 400, which expands to 1000 during the summer holiday season. The Hukatere Scenic Reserve, situated on the road to Matakohe, is home to a beautiful bush walk with mature kauri trees, to the north of Tinopai.

Berth your boat in Whangarei Harbour's unique marina right in the centre of town. 

Hop off the boat and get a great cup of coffee or cool beer at one of the quayside restaurants and cafes. Stroll over to the swimming baths and fitness centre. Take a longer walk through one of the many picturesque native forest walks. The children will love the huge playground. Just a block or so away is also the shopping district, movie theater, medical and dental services, internet cafes ... and very importantly a large low-price supermarket to bunker up with.

All this without the need of a car.

If you do want a car to see more of New Zealand, there are cheap ones for sale or hire in town.

After you have taken care of yourself you can organize some care for the boat. There are four major haul-out facilities in town and a well established boat service industry that survives on their reputation with visiting boats - see links.

Being just a day's sail to world renowned spots like the Bay of Islands, Great Barrier Island, Auckland and the Tutukaka Coast (rated as one of the top dive spots in the world!), Whangarei is a great base to cruise around or just park for a while!

 Bay of Islands Marina is in Port Opua, the primary port of entry to New Zealand for yachties arriving in New Zealand from the Pacific. It boasts a safe, well-marked and easy approach by both day and night, with customs and quarantine berths conveniently situated on the outer breakwater of the marina.

 Recently expanded, the marina has a range of berths available for both long and short-term lease. There are hot showers, pump-out facilities, a diesel fuel dock, wi-fi and postal services, and live-aboards are very welcome.

 The adjacent Port Opua Marina Park is home to a wide array of marine services – all within walking distance. These include travel lift haul-out and hardstand, catamaran haul-out, boat builders and riggers, painters, refrigeration, mechanics, electronics, chandlery, car hire, insurance and boat brokers, storage facilities, a laundry, a cafe and a hairdresser.

 Opua is located five minutes by road from Paihia, the heart of the Bay of Islands. It is 20 minutes from Kerikeri and Bay of Islands Airport, and just short water crossing from historic Russell.

Bay of Islands Marina - Port Opua

The Kerikeri Cruising Club and Marina are located at the entrance to the Kerikeri Inlet on the doorstep of the Bay of Islands.
Has facilities include a 193 berth marina, boat launching ramp, diesel fuel jetty, short term haulout facility, showers and laundry facility.
We host year-round keelboat racing and have an active centreboard fleet.
Our clubhouse and bar with their panoramic water views can be hired for weddings & other private events.


Doves Bay - KeriKeri Cruising Club

Whangaroa Harbour, previously spelled Wangaroa Harbour, is an inlet on the northern coast of Northland, New Zealand, with Whangaroa Bay and the Pacific Ocean located to the north. The harbour was formed about 6,000 years ago when rising sea levels flooded a river valley, leaving behind steep outcrops from ancient volcanic rocks. 

In the harbour, you can find the small settlements of Totara North and Saies on the west side, Waitaruke on the south side, and Whangaroa on the east side. State Highway 10 runs through Waitaruke. The name "Whaingaroa" comes from a woman's lament "what a long wait" after her warrior husband had left for a foray to the south.

Whangaroa is an all-weather anchorage with mud and sand holdings. As you enter the harbour, you will see Kingfish Lodge on your port side, and you can call the lodge on VHF channel 62 to stop ashore for a meal or a quiet drink or to tie off at their wharf. Note that Kingfish Lodge is only accessible by water. 

As you pass the lodge, you will find the eastern arm on your port side, which offers good anchorage throughout with the option to get water from the water boy for a small fee of $5. On your starboard side is the western arm, a lovely anchorage with a nice beach for the kids to swim and frolic.

As you travel down the harbour, you will see high cliffs reminiscent of Fiordland. There is reasonable fishing all year round in the harbour, and it's especially good in the summer months. Heading up the harbour and off the port bow is Radcliffes Bay, named after the residents who live there. At Radcliffes wharf, there is a floating jetty where you can get fuel with a simple eftpos card. Note that there is no water available here. 

Directly opposite on the starboard bow is Totara North, where you can find both fuel and water. From Clansman, you can travel further up the harbour and come to the marina, where you can book a berth or stay on the breakwater. Bookings can be made by calling the marina office on channels VHF 12 OR 62. 

Stop by the world-famous Whangaroa Sportfishing Club for a drink and meal, and sign the visitors book. Across the road is the Marlin Hotel, where all are welcome to dine or have a drink. A 5-minute walk up the road brings you to the Boyd Gallery, a shop with a helpful owner who can point you in the right direction.

If you venture into this area, please remember that staying here is a privilege, so please leave it as you found it. The locals are very proud of their waterways, and it's well worth the time taken to visit. Enjoy your stay!

If entering by boat, remember that the Havelock channel is more tidal than the entrance to other marinas, but it’s a very well surveyed and maintained channel with excellent navigation markers. Havelock Marina

Picton offers permanent and visitor berths for vessels from eight to 35 metres plus. The Cook Strait ferries dock within walking distance, and the nearest airport is only a 10-minute shuttle ride away.
Located in the very heart of Picton Harbour, this marina is nestled alongside cafes, restaurants, bars and shops. From here you can explore the whole of the Queen Charlotte Sound, discover the on-shore delights of Marlborough or simply kick back and enjoy the gentle ambience of Picton. It's within easy walking distance of the Interislander Ferry Terminal and in close proximity to an extensive range of marine services and onboard provisions. Picton Marina has a range of premium berths specifically designed to accommodate vessels up to 35 metres and has a large capacity for casual berthage.

Waikawa Marina has 600 berths for vessels from eight to 20 meters; large and small boatsheds and several secure parking compounds. Waikawa is five minutes from Picton and the Cook Strait ferry terminals, 15 minutes from the nearest airport and 30 minutes from Blenheim.

Napier's inner harbour is situated in Ahuriri, Napier.  The majority of berths are used for commercial fishing but some berths are available for pleasure craft, yachts and launches.  There are four areas for vessels:  West Quay - mainly for commercial fishing vessels although some casual availability for larger yachts 16m+.  Iron Port with a floating jetty and two finger jetties on Meeanee Quay at Westshore.

This area features some of Tairāwhiti’s most popular restaurants and wine bars. It’s home to sites of cultural significance, which can be explored on the Tupapa heritage trail, along with top visitor attractions such as the Tairāwhiti waka houra, MV Takitimu and the historic Wa165 steam locomotive.
We’ll work with our contractors and tenants, and follow all consent conditions, to minimise the impacts of the construction work in the inner harbour as much as possible.

Bayswater Marina

Westhaven Marina is located on the western edge of Auckland Central Business District. It's immediately recognisable as one of Auckland's famous icons and it's the heart of boating in Auckland. 

Vessels entering and departing New Zealand at Auckland can be processed at Auckland’s International Arrival & Departure Berth.
Vessels 25m or less are processed at Z Pier in Westhaven Marina.
Vessels up to 135m may be processed at Silo or Viaduct Marinas.

Vessels arriving in New Zealand must meet strict biosecurity requirements to prevent the introduction of pests and diseases to our country. Most recreational vessels will need a full biosecurity clearance, which involves an inspection of the vessel by a Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) officer. A full clearance allows you to sail freely in New Zealand waters and remain in the country for an extended time (more than 20 days).

Your first place of arrival in New Zealand must be a port or marina that has been approved to receive yachts and other recreational vessels from overseas. These are called 'places of first arrival' (POFAs).

Westhaven, Viaduct and Silo marinas are the only Auckland marinas that can offer customs clearance for pre-arranged vessels. Westhaven Marina offers customs clearance for vessels up to 24 metres in length. Viaduct and Silo marinas can offer customs clearance for vessels over 24 metres.

To clear with customs and MPI at our marinas, you will first need to book a berth with the marina you wish to clear through, and then make a booking in advance with customs and MPI directly. Charges for these services apply.

Silo Park Marina

Viaduct Harbour Marina is situated in the heart of Auckland's inner-city waterfront precinct, providing a home for up to 70 berths of varying lengths, from 15 to 60 meters. The depths of our berths range between 2 to 4 meters at chart datum. However, berths are subject to availability and confirmation by our marina team. Our friendly team of ambassadors is always available to assist you during your stay at the marina. 
The closest adjacent streets to the marina are Viaduct Harbour Avenue and Customs Street West.  

Safety is a top priority at Viaduct Harbour Marina, and it is our responsibility to ensure the wellbeing of our community and environment. Therefore, we have established rules and requirements to maintain this. Before entering the marina, you must provide evidence of hull insurance (including salvage), a liability insurance certificate for $10M, and an Electrical Warrant of Fitness (EWoF).

All vessels must provide proof of insurance before entering the marina. If you require electricity, one of our Viaduct Harbour ambassadors will need to sight and photograph your EWoF. Please note that we do not provide lines or fenders.

Sandspit Marina is a state-of the-art boutique marina completed in July 2016.  It has 134 berths ranging in size from 12 to 18 meter's and caters for the members of the Sandspit Yacht Club and visitors

Weiti Boating Club is a hidden gem of the Hauraki Gulf nestled up the Weiti River in Arkles Bay, Whangaparaoa, with 167 moorings, hardstand, grids, mast gantry, boat ramp, large maintenance shed and beautiful clubhouse overlooking the Weiti River. The club was started by a handful of volunteers in 1968 with only a caravan and a shed for club facilities.

Club members yachts & launches are just a short row from the all tide jetty. Once on your boat, it's just a few minutes until you are out in what is undoubtedly one of the worlds best nautical playgrounds - the Hauraki Gulf.

The pier21 Marine Centre is an innovative concept providing Auckland boat-owners, and international visitors, with the best range of choice in vessel storage, maintenance and servicing.
It has the first Drystack Boatpark built in Auckland with 190 berths for smaller craft (up to 9.2m). It has a purpose-built gantry crane to quickly and safely stack and retrieve your boat, minimising accidental damage as the operator works close to where the lift is occurring (unlike forklift options that are not as precise in their handling and have additional problems with diesel fumes).

The Boatyard has room for 30 boats and has a Travelift for lifting boats in and out of the water. With the assistance of our On-site partners, we can provide all the maintenance requirements you may require such as general maintenance, anti-fouling and repainting, a lift and wash service, engine repair, hull surveys, and keel fitting, propellor refurbishment, etc. Or you can use your own people – we provide the space.

The Marina is the ideal location for your yacht in Auckland, with secure berthing for up to 48 vessels (up to 30m in length and 3m draft). There is a full range of services onsite, such as shower and laundry facilities, and it is only a 5-minute walk to downtown Auckland.

Pier21 Marine Centre

Our marina can berth superyachts up to 90 meters. The adjacent Orams Marine Village Boat Park is Auckland City's largest purpose built dry stack facility and is the easiest place to store and access a boat in the Auckland CBD. Corporate event organizers are also using the boat park space as a unique venue for conferences and events.

Berths - The Club has a consent for up to 118 Pile Moorings which are being installed as demand requires. We can cater for both monohull and multihull vessels up to 20m in length. You can find out more about Auckland Moorings from Auckland Transport.
Boat Storage - Hardstand boat storage is available for the storage of large vessels. We also have trailer boat storage too.
Dinghy Lockers - Covered dinghy lockers are available for members, however these are first served.
Drinking Water - We have drinking water available (roof water caught onsite).
Haul Out - The club has haul out facilities available for members. 
Location - You can find us by car 30 mins from Auckland CBD and 35 mins from Pokeno.
Pontoons - An easy 90m walk on pontoon for loading & unloading. Work births can also be booked at the end of the Pontoon.

Security - Security is excellent. Traffic on the river is relatively low and there is ample hardstand area to park vehicles. Vehicles are very safe as they are 1.2km off the main road which has automated security gates (these can be opened by members mobile phones).
Washdown Water - There is washdown water available on the pontoons for cleaning vessels.

The Lakes Marina Project is not just a place to park watercraft; it's a system designed to make the lake accessible in a safe and practical way. The Marina promotes alternative modes of transportation while serving both locals and the tourism and adventure industries.

Queenstown Marina is a world-class Marina that offers a full range of services on the shores of New Zealand's beautiful Lake Wakatipu. It accommodates both long-term and short-term users.

Lakes Marina Projects Ltd (LMP) has established the following rules to regulate the efficient and harmonious operation of Queenstown Marina. The rules are also intended to ensure the safety and enjoyment of berth holders and visitors to the Marina.

Short-term and day boaters can moor their vessels and use Marina services at daily or weekly rates. Fuel pumps located on the breakwater provide both diesel and petrol via a self-service pump. Marina users can use either side of the breakwater to fuel. The public may fuel their vessels on the outside of the floating attenuator. A sewage pump-out will be available next to the fuel pumps.

Valet cleaning and maintenance services can be provided at an additional charge to help users keep their vessels in good condition and ready to go.

The Marina's public areas will be open during normal business hours. The entire Marina facility is under video surveillance, and access to berths is strictly controlled through an access control system. Parking facilities are also access controlled.

A secure parking facility, available for both Marina clients and the general public, is conveniently located near the Marina.

Queenstown Marina

Nestled on the Eastern Shore of Roys Bay, looking up the Lake to the peaks of Mt Aspiring National Park, Wanaka Marina has a mountain backdrop as spectacular as any in the world.
This sheltered location offers some of the best available protection from prevailing winds making it a safe facility especially suited to boating families and serves as an ideal gateway to exploring the 192 km2 waters of Lake Wanaka,  New Zealand’s fourth-largest lake.

The Otago Harbour entrance lies between Heyward Point and Taiaroa Head. The harbour channel extends 5 nautical miles to Port Chalmers, then a further 7 nautical miles to the city of Dunedin.

From Taiaroa Head to the container terminal at Port Chalmers, the harbour is dredged to accommodate vessels with a maximum draught of 13.5 metres, thus enabling large container ships to make Port Chalmers their final port of call in New Zealand. From Port Chalmers to Dunedin, the channel is dredged to handle vessels with a draught of 7.5 metres.

Westport Harbour

The Port of Greymouth is situated on the West Coast of the South Island at the mouth of the Grey River.
The entrance is across a bar, between breakwaters to cargo wharves on the river and fish unloading wharves/fishing boat berthages in Erua Moana Lagoon.
LINZ Chart NZ 7142 "Greymouth Harbour and Approaches" explains entrance beacons. Maximum entrance draught is usually 4.8 metres at neap tides to 5.5 metres at spring tides but varies between about 4.5 and 6 metres.
