About Port de Casablanca
The harbour can accommodate and handle up to 40 vessels at a time. It includes a commercial port, a fishing port, and a marina, as well as facilities and infrastructure for the floating and dry beaching of ships in shipyards. Port Casablanca, the largest port in Morocco, is a multifunctional port focused mainly on trade. It covers 450 hectares, of which 256 hectares of land and offers more than 8 linear km of dock. It is located in the centre of the Moroccan Atlantic coast, at the bottom of a very unprotected port between the rocky points of El Hank to the west and Oukacha to the east. The port is connected to the east with the Ben Aïcha boulevard and to the west with the boulevards des Almohades and des FAR; These arteries serve the five gateways of the commercial port. It is equipped with an ONCF railway network, with a length of 17,410 m, which runs along the port fence from gate number 1 of the station, to beyond the phosphate wharf where the drawing area extends. Characteristics Location: 33°36'N-7°37'W; Profession: Trade, fishing, repair of boats and pleasure craft; Draft: 7 m to 14 m deep. In addition to its mission of policing bodies of water, the harbour master supervises the safety of the transit of goods in the port and the proper location of ships. The essential mission of the port captain's office is to enforce current operating standards regarding the movement of ships. Composed of three operational entities, stopover scheduling, maritime traffic and safety/environment, the Port Captaincy has the human and material resources to carry out the missions assigned to it. Three key systems are implemented: A VTS control tower equipped with navigation aids; A remote surveillance system that covers all port facilities and is equipped with a PC with an operational camera; The PORTNET system is a communication platform that integrates all actors in the port community.
