About Port of Sperlonga
The tourist landing place of Sperlonga, recently enlarged and restructured, is a basin port, according to a typical pattern of inland seas such as the Mediterranean, in which a natural shelter expanded with artificial works is often exploited. The first dock in Sperlonga was built around 1960, to meet the needs of local fishermen and boaters. Over the years, the tourist and recreational function has become prevalent, thanks to the quality of the marine waters, the beauty of the coast - which includes the Regional Park of the Riviera di Ulisse - and the proximity of the Pontine islands, located within 30 nautical miles. A breakwater pier, which starts from the promontory of Torre Truglia and extends for 200 m in the NW - SE direction, and a curvilinear underfloor pier delimits two basins separated by a central arm, with a total area of 19,000 square meters, to which it is accessed through a canal 11 m wide and 90 m long. Two hydraulic connections between the basins and the supply of clear water, coming from the nearby springs, ensure effective circulation of the water in the two basins. Portions of the docks are reserved for professional fishermen, Coast Guard boats (SAR) and mooring of boats in transit. The piers and floating piers, the latter paved with wooden planks, are equipped with turrets for the distribution of electricity, drinking water and washing water, serving the parked boats. Electricity and drinking water can be activated via a prepaid card. The boats are welcomed in conditions of absolute safety and the landing is equipped with all ground services: administrative offices, reception, security guard, toilets with showers, petrol and diesel stations. For boaters there is a reserved parking area, connected to the landing with a shuttle service. Between the landing and the archaeological area of the Grotta di Tiberio extends the beach dell'Angolo, which together with the other beaches of Sperlonga has been awarded the Blue Flag every year since 1997. The dock hosts a beach delegation from the harbor office of Gaeta .
