The most famous marina in the Azores is one of the most visited ports in the world. Its privileged geographical position has been recognised for centuries. It is a well-established tradition that sailors that dock in Faial must leave a painting on the walls of the breakwater. Legend has it that sailors that do this will reach their destinations safely. GENERAL INFORMATION The city of Horta is located on the SE coast of the island of Faial. Tidal currents are strong in the Faial Channel. The flood runs to N and the ebb pulls hard into the bay. The marina is located inside the harbor which is protected by a breakwater with a lighthouse. The main references are the lighthouse of Boa Viagem and the lighthouse of the jetty. PROHIBITED You enter the port by taking the Boa Viagem line through Igreja do Carmo, 285º, until the alignment of the harbor lighthouses (front and back); once inside the port you can see the marina jetty right in front. There should be some protection at the entrance jetty in case the Pico ferry or fishermen are leaving the port.

The Praia da Vitória Marina is located on the far eastern corner of Terceira Island, in the Archipelago of the Azores, at the coordinates 38º 43"N, 27º 03"W. The marina is protected by the Northern and Southern jetties of the bay in the city of Praia da Vitória. After passing the jetties, visitors will view the sandy beaches of Prainha and Praia Grande and the seafront road, Avenida Beira-Mar. The area is constituted by the largest sandy beach in the Azores and its natural harbour enables nautical sports to be practised, such as sailing, windsurfing, water ski, water bike, boat trips, sea fishing, underwater diving and whale watching.

Located on the south coast of Terceira Island, the Port of Angra do Heroísmo serves as a gateway to the city at coordinates 38° 39′ 08” N, 027° 13′ 05” W. A small port, with a charming marina integrated in a beautiful heritage city. It has two pleasant terraces, one of which belongs to a restaurant. It is in the works to increase the pier. Approach & Anchorage Navigating into the port is straightforward, with anchorage available south of the pier at depths of 10 to 30 meters. Porto das Pipas is the local name for the main port of Angra do Heroísmo, located on the south coast of Terceira Island, Azores. It serves as the commercial and passenger port for the city and is managed by Portos dos Açores, S.A. through the Administração dos Portos da Terceira e Graciosa (APTG). The port handles cargo, cruise ships, ferries, and also has a small marina area for recreational vessels. It has immigration and customs control through coordination with the Portuguese maritime authorities (Capitania do Porto) and Autoridade Tributária e Aduaneira (customs). Clearance procedures (entry/departure) are handled in coordination with the Port Captaincy, located at or near the port.
