About Port of Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue

Located in the heart of the Val de Saire, the port of Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue benefits from exceptional assets: a natural maritime site sheltered from westerly winds near beautiful beaches, a remarkable architectural and historical heritage. Address of the harbour-master (port office): Place Auguste Contamine, 50550 Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue, France. HARBOR OFFICE - HOURS April / June: Monday> Saturday 8 am-12pm and 1.30pm-4.30pm, Sunday 9 am-12pm July / August: Monday> Sunday from 8am to 8pm September / October: Monday> Saturday 8 am-12pm and 1.30pm-4.30pm, Sunday 9 am-12pm November / March: Monday> Saturday 8 am-12pm Immigration procedure and form https://apisspl.kpratik.com/storage/uploads/2025/04/24/flyer-Brexit-SVLH.pdf https://apisspl.kpratik.com/storage/uploads/2025/04/24/PREAVIS-immigration-MARITIME-PAF-SVLH_auto.pdf The port combines both a fishing harbour and a marina / pleasure-boat harbour since 1982 (when the floating-dock basin was created). The marina offers around 760 berths year-round, plus roughly 80 visitor berths. The port is sheltered from swell and westerly winds by a long jetty — a protective “breakwater” — and lies facing the nearby Île Tatihou. Maximum allowed draft for boats is about 2.3 meters, and the port generally accepts boats of modest size (pleasure craft / small fishing boats Facilities at the marina include a harbour-master’s office (capitainerie), pontoons labeled A–L, a careening/maintenance zone, showers & toilets, fuel station, washing/laundry, electricity and water at pontoons, parking, and even restaurants near the harbour. Practical Info & Marina Operation Harbour-master office address: Place Auguste Contamine, 50550 Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue. Access to the marina basin is tidal: the port becomes accessible about 2 h 15 min before high tide, and remains accessible until about 3 h after high tide (depending on tide coefficient). The port holds environmental and quality labels such as “Pavillon Bleu” (Blue Flag) and “Qualité Plaisance” — indicating good standards for services, cleanliness and harbour management. The village itself is picturesque, well-known for its oyster production (oyster farming / oyster beds), making it a center for seafood and maritime economy Right across from the harbour is Île Tatihou, accessible at low tide / via small boat, with historical heritage including the 17th-century fortifications (towers built by engineers of the time), and listed among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The place is attractive for visitors for its mix of sea-life economy, maritime heritage, and pleasant coastal environment — making it both a working harbour and a destination for leisure, sailing, history and gastronomy.
